HOTTING THINGS UP WITH A NEW SAUNA
Our first fundraising appeal is underway. We’re raising money to help fund the installation of a new purpose-built community sauna that will significantly enhance the experience of people swimming at Jesus Green Lido.
Cold-water swimming is now widely recognised for its physical and mental health benefits. With Lido visitor numbers increasing year-on-year, the addition of a large modern sauna will strengthen the Lido’s role as a hub for health and wellbeing in the heart of Cambridge.

A PRACTICAL ADDITION TO THE LIDO
Cold water swimming has grown dramatically in popularity in recent years – and Jesus Green Lido sits at the heart of this movement in Cambridge.
Increasing numbers of swimmers use the Lido all-year round, embracing the physical and mental benefits of cold immersion.
However, safe cold-water practice requires appropriate warming facilities. The lido already has one sauna, but it is small, and during the winter months is often full, with standing room only.
A VITAL ENHANCEMENT
As the popularity of cold-water swimming continues to grow, the Lido needs a new, larger, purpose- built, high-quality sauna to:
• Support the all-year round opening of the Lido
• Allow swimmers to warm up safely in colder months
• Improve accessibility for older swimmers and those with health conditions
• Reduce risks associated with prolonged cold exposure
• Create a welcoming social hub
• Generate extra income to reinvest in the Lido.
This is not a luxury addition. It is a vital enhancement that will help meet the evolving needs of a growing community; and encourage more people to try cold water swimming and enjoy its many well-documented benefits.

• Undertake a swimming challenge and raise money for the sauna
• Host a coffee morning / cake sale at the pool or elsewhere
• Watch out for opportunities to tap and donate poolside at forthcoming events
