APPEAL FOR VOLUNTEERS AS LIDO SET TO CLOSE in MARCH FOR REPAIRS

Over the past three winters, we have been so lucky to have had Jesus Green Lido open, meaning that many of us have been able to continue to swim outdoors all year round. However, this has meant that the routine maintenance of the facilities has not been able to take place over the winters. We’re now at the stage where essential maintenance needs to take place.

GLL (Better) have announced that Jesus Green Lido will be closed for this essential maintenance from Monday, 4 March 2024 until Thursday, 28 March 2024 inclusive. This will include work to the pool tank, plant room and the ladies’ showers and drains.

The reopening is scheduled for Good Friday, 29 March 2024. Members will be able to access the other swimming pools in Cambridge during this time. There is one proviso, however; if the weather forecast is horrendous then the work may have to be postponed for later in the year.

GLL have also said that they would really appreciate volunteers’ help to carry out painting, cleaning, and/or gardening throughout this period. Although the hours have yet to be confirmed, it is likely that they will be between 9am and 3pm. Also, if anyone has tools, brushes and brooms that they might bring then that would be helpful. Otherwise, Better will also supply items.

It would be great if as many of the lido community could help out as possible. If you can help, please get in touch via our contact page.
